Main Tasks R&D:
* Manage and coach members of R&D department, incl. planning, coordination, delegation and supervision
* Ensure that enough engineering capacity with the required skills is available in the team, recruit additional team
members according to staff budget
* Development of technical specifications for new products, by liaising with stakeholders on product requirements
* Conduct development reviews and validations according to the milestones of company' development process
* Evaluate technical specifications of third-party components used for own developments, support purchasing in
technical matters when required
* Review, assess technical impacts and approve change requests together with product marketing
* Manage technical lifecycle of own products with focus on obsolescence of components
Additional Tasks:
* Provide reporting as required by MD and HQ Engineering management
* Work according to processes (incl. continuous improvement of processes where needed)
* Selection, evaluation, purchase, and introduction of development tools

Authority to decide
(Authority to grant discount, signature authority, authority according to policies, etc.)
* Full professional authority (disciplinary & functional) for members of R&D team
* Budget responsibility for R&D department with authority according to signatory guideline

Requirements
Education
* Degree in Engineering (Master or Bachelor), e.g. in Mechanics, Electrics, Electronics, or Software
* Additional education in business administration or leadership would be an asset
Work experience
* >10 years of experience in conceptualizing and engineering of electromechanical systems
* >5 years of experience in leading team of >5 people
Expertise and methodology
(Business knowledge, languages, MS-Office, etc.)
* Product development and use of development tools (CAD, SW Dev), as well as use of ERP system
* Product Lifecycle Management and use of PLM Tools
* Resource and project planning
* Comprehensive knowledge of MS-Office applications
Other requirement criteria
(Personal related competence as social competence, management competence, strategic competence, willingness to travel, etc.)
* Leadership skills to lead team and develop people, incl time management (self and team members)
* Communication skills (verbal and written) to convince people for projects and ideas
* Social competences to work in cross-cultural and international environment
* Fluent in English and Mandarin, other languages are an advantage

* Assignment and distribution of tasks within team to optimize output - while fostering the skills of the team members
* Realize projects within time, scope and budget
* Annual personal targets as mutually agreed
Performance indicators
* Overall team performance and employee satisfaction
* Fulfillment of agreed delivery times, functional scope and manufacturing cost of products developed with team
