Senior System Engineer - ( Linux / Middleware )

Middleware are key components to enabling and simplifying connectivity amongst applications, its components and back-end sources.
You role will be to ensure the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the middleware components within a Linux/Unix operating environment in a cloud environment.
Technical Accountabilities:

  • Monitoring and analyzing systems performance data, tuning and optimizing the Operating System / processing response time to improve performance, or any required system changes.
  • Function as a SME to internal and external units for technical resolution and support, for matters related to system performance, integration and configuration.
  • Act as SME for technical issues ( Security Threats/ Vulnerabilities ) related to Middleware components.
  • Spearhead troubleshooting and RCA for high severity issues, including testing disaster recovery across all Middleware environments.
  • Planning upgrades/ patching to middleware softwares.
  • Ensuring production environment is as per Service Level Agreements.

Functional Accountabilites:

  • Ensure change and release management processes are complied.
  • Technical Documentation procedures. ( Monitoring / Performance )
  • Working with team units/vendors/suppliers to identify faults and initiate resolution efforts, diagnose and rectify surfaced issues.
  • Capacity studies for analysis on resource utilization and future projection planning of requirements.
  • Supporting Internal/External auditing exercises.

What you need to have:

  • Degree in Computer Science ( or any relevant discipline )
  • Hands-on System administration experience on RedHat, Amazon Linux, Oracle Linux OS.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) level of hands-on knowledge in JBOSS, Weblogic, MQ, Apache Kafka/MSK, Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Minimally 5 years working in full implementation and support lifecycles. (Configuration, Upgrade, Incident Resolution) in JBOSS, Weblogic, MQ, Apache Kafka/MSK, Kubernetes and Docker.
  • AWS and Azure Cloud administration experience is required.
  • Hands-on experience Kubernetes and Docker containers is required.
  • Proficiency on Springboot and Microservices to provide support.

What is advantageous to have:

  • AWS/Azure Cloud certification
  • RedHat Enterprise Linux Certification
