My client is a leading name in the biotechnology industry and is revolutionising technologies for enzyme engineering. To cater to this expansion, a new Senior Scientist position has been created

The incumbent will develop novel enzymes and microbes to produce chemicals and natural compounds an lead activities involved in the development of novel an optimized strains

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the activities involved in the development of novel and optimized strains for various purposes
  • Employ genetic engineering methodologies and tools, e.g. DNA assembly, transformation, integration, sequencing, bioinformatics, etc
  • Assume responsibility for pathway analysis, assembly and testing to produce target compounds
  • optimize production of target natural compounds and chemicals using Strain selection and engineering
  • Work closely with process engineers to ensure scalability of the processes
  • Work closely with data infrastructure and automation teams to establish the company's platform
  • Lead processes associated with target molecule production, including redox metabolism, energy usage, impact on growth and health of organism

Requirements:

  • PhD in microbiology, molecular biology, metabolic engineering, bio engineering or equivalent wit at least 5 years of industrial biotech experience
  • Deep experience in enzyme catalysis and functional enzyme expression in microbial hosts
  • Stronghold in engineering and optimization of microbes for production of natural products and secondary metabolites and small molecules
  • Solid work experience with yeast engineering, protein engineering and high-throughput systems and assays
  • Understanding of cellular physiology, metabolism and pathways for a variety of eukaryotic and prokaryotic microbes
  • Experience in working with automated platforms
  • Strong hands-on experience using wet lab facilities
  • Competent in using statistics, computational modeling, bioinformatics, and data analysis tools
